It seems as though everything I post, there they are to say, "You're wrong" or "You're dumb". They do it in different ways, ways that get you riled up inside and all fiery and passionate.
That's what trolls do. They are loud mouth bullies that use words to make you feel bad. They project their own inadequacies to you.
I learned the other day, the number one rule of the internet: Don't feed the trolls.
This rule fits with what my Mom told me when my little brothers used to annoy me: Just ignore them and they'll stop.
I hear you but I bristle a bit at you joining into the name calling - loud mouth bullies, stupid. Lashing back in the same manner as those initially bringing the accusation is unbecoming of the manner of Christ. I think about how during his trial he absorbed all the false accusations without response or comment. To feel it is one thing but to write it is another.
ReplyDeleteglenntrevisan Glenn, thanks for the push back. Just for clarity sake, I didn't say "stupid". I did write, "loud mouth bullies" because that is what internet trolls are. They are bullies and loud mouths. I will think more about what you said, but as of right now I still stand by what I wrote here.
ReplyDeletedanielmrose glenntrevisan I acknowledge and apologize for my error, Dan. I confess the "stupid" reference regarded words on the picture posted with John Madeja's comment which I hastily attributed as attached to your post - which of course it wasn't. My bad. (For readers without the referred-to picture, it was of a young woman with the overwritten words "Not sure if troll ... or just very stupid.")
ReplyDeleteglenntrevisan No problem. That makes sense.
ReplyDeleteglenntrevisan I removed the offending image.
